Department of Mathematics EJM College Leh was established in the year 2005 with the Bachelors Degree Program in Mathematics. The sanctioned strength for the department is two, however the department presently is working with one permanent faculty members. The Department has a strong faculty who have qualified NET-JRF, SET with Mphil Degree. He is also Gold Medalist from University of Jammu and is also currently pursuing his research work from University of Jammu on the topics in functional analysis, operator theory and analytic function theory. Ladakh being a mountainous region and remaining cut off from the rest of the world for almost half of the year has very limited access to science and technology particularly exposure to the mathematical world. The department of this institution is currently the only source of imparting higher mathematical knowledge to students of this region.

The department aims to impart quality education and to carry out quality research in mathematics in this part of the country and we aim at bringing the department at the national map of mathematics. The department had 49 enrolled students for the academic session 2019-20 and presently the department has total strength of 66 for the academic session 2020-21. We aims at holding seminars and workshops for our students and hold invited talks by renowned mathematician from across india, and abroad, so that our students can also get good exposure to the mathematical knowledge and bring out the best in them.
