Zoology

The Department of Zoology was established as a section of the Eliezer Joldan Memorial College in ¬¬¬2005 and since then the department has been imparting teaching at undergraduate level. The Department of Zoology is now almost 17 years old. Professor Tsewang Motup took over as the first Head of the Department in 2005. Followed by Professor Deskyong Namgyal , Professor Tashi Ldawa and Assistant Professor Padma Wangchok. The department of zoology has Laboratory which is well equipped with latest equipment and is capable of performing each and every practical as per the syllabus of University of Ladakh. The department also has well preserved specimens of each and every phylum. We also perform dissections to understand the internal anatomy of the different animals. In the age of use of teaching aids in learning, the department is well equipped with Audio- visual aid so that learning becomes more fun and interactive. The department also offers a collection book related to the subject and has got personal reading space for the interested students. Learning should not be restricted to the class rooms in this regard the department also organises seminars, programs and offers projects as per the guidelines of University of Ladakh. The department also organises Zoological tours to the biodiversity rich spots of our Ladakh. We welcome you all .
